Dear Friend, CAMEO, the California Assoc. for Micro Enterprise Opportunity, invites you to join our dynamic network of groups and individuals committed to promoting economic opportunity through Micro-Enterprise development. Click here to Join!! 2009 was a pivotal year for our field: fall-out from our Great Recession- the increased unemployment, lack of credit, falling sales – all put an unprecedented demand on our members’ business assistance and lending services. Helping small and micro businesses is now a priority in the Obama Administration’s Recovery program. 2010 should bring even more attention- and hopefully – resources to our sector. That is why it is even more important to work together to communicate our message of success. CAMEO has been working in three primary areas to promote Micro Enterprise in CA: Building the Capacity of our members to serve more entrepreneurs. Viva las Micro Empresas: reaching the emerging Latino market CA-SETI- reaching micro businesses during tax filing season Topical webinars; regional gatherings: increasing knowledge & support Individual Scholarships: professional staff development Advocacy and Public Policies to Direct Resources to CA programs PRIME funds secured for CA @ 15% of total national funding USDA, Dept. of Labor, SBA and federal appropriations requests; Obama Jobs Bill, etc. Rural microenterprise needs in Sacramento Facilitating Capital and Grants for Micro Finance and Technical Assistance $10 million in new capital commitments from banks $1 million in new grants for operations and TA Funding and Guarantees that will leverage new capital CAMEO is dedicated to supporting the growth and sustainability of Micro Enterprise Development and Financing Programs. To accomplish this we must work together to run excellent programs that serve both aspiring entrepreneurs and locally owned businesses; we must raise the necessary resources; we must continue to build our community to ensure that our voice is heard.
