Inspired to produce a hair clip that wouldn’t slip out of
her infant daughter’s hair, Cindy launched No Slippy Hair
Clippy in September 2000. Women’s Initiative for Self Employment
in San Francisco provided her with business training and her first
loan of $1,000. Oakland Business Development Corporation loaned
an additional $5,000 and set her up with an Individual Development
Account to leverage her savings.
Today her product is sold at 100 stores in 15 states and generates
monthly sales revenue of $5,000-6,000.
