Online Practitioner Workshop
Managing Your Media Campaign for Microenterprise Development
Tuesday, September 13, 2005, 10:00am—11:30am PDT
The media provides many opportunities to build public
support for microenterprise development. It's important for microenterprise
practitioners to understand how to develop the message, prepare
media materials, host media briefings, write op-ed articles, and
interview with the media.
Join Kim Pate and Jerome Uher of CFED as they provide practitioners
with their recommendations for a successful media campaign to gain
public support for microenterprise development. This web-based teleworkshop
will provide an overview of the key points to consider when working
with the media, samples of successful media efforts, and a starter
tool kit for your own campaign.
California microenterprise practitioners can use this workshop
to help prepare for California Microenterprise Development Month.
Joining the presenters will be representatives from Townsend Public
Affairs, Inc. who will speak on how to tie media management with
advocacy efforts.
The workshop will cover:
· Cultivating and
maintaining good relationships with the media;
· Developing consistent
messages that inspire action and
support for microenterprise;
· Garnering broad
public awareness of microenterprise development
through the effective use of client success stories;
and
· Promoting significant
and pervasive investment in microenterprise
as an anti-poverty and/or economic development
strategy.
